Indemnified : verb (used with object),
1. to compensate for damage or loss sustained, expense incurred, etc.
2. to guard or secure against anticipated loss; give security against (future damage or liability).

The disparate and downtrodden will find a voice with Indemnified, a band made from rough edges and low connections. The name emerged among friends, each relating a story of betrayal. The guilty will not be named, but their impact is felt in the heavy, grinding rifts and penetrating vocals. Several of their current songs are direct biographies of these experiences, while others demonstrate philosophical lessons they learned to cope with hardship. Determined not to become another empty, anger-fueled band, Indemnified reached for something more encompassing of the human experience: anger, love, life and death, morality and depravity, innocence, experience— these themes emerge in their music in crescendos and whispers, in lilting tones and cacophony. Indemnified evolved with the intent to engage their audience with a message that was angry, but also hopeful. This approach to music was a far cry from the typical death metal that pervaded the Albuquerque rock scene, post-millenium. With the odds against them, the band steeled itself for the failures they believed were inevitable and vowed to approach the music scene in Albuquerque with an open mind, willing to play any venue and open for any established act. Along with playing shows the band released a three track demo, which they funded and released without assistance. Recorded at Third Eye Studios, it earned them the respect and admiration of their peers and attracted a local following. Following this, the band decided to more fully explore their creative depths and musical diversity, looking to broaden their appeal and deepen the music they created. Once satisfied, for the time being, with the musical creations that were the fruit of this delve inward, Indemnified returned to the stage to high acclaim. Their success continued to generate support and interest, so the band headed back into the studio and began recording a full length album. That process proved to be the catalyst to reach for something greater; the scope and ambition of their songs expanded. Indemnified’s new project developed with greater dynamism, length and depth of feeling than anyone anticipated.
“We didn’t want to sound like everybody else,” Travis explained. “We wanted to be different, to offer something that wasn’t there. A lot of the bands here [in Albuquerque] seemed one-sided; there wasn’t enough emphasis on the duality of life in the music here. It all fell into one of two extremes: death metal or drunken punk, with only a few exceptions. When we first started, I admit, we wanted an aggressive sound and a lot of our early music was very angry and very typical for the scene here, but as the band got more comfortable and we started to open up, a lot more personal ideas and experiences were injected into the music.”
The bands upcoming full-length album, Clockwork Soldier, is currently under production and is due out soon.
