My short bio
My day job is an OBGYN Nurse Practitioner. I have 2 sons who are involved in Boy Scouting and both aspiring musicians, and they make good grades. (YAY!) My hobbies are live music (ok...Groupie here!) and photography, especially at the music venues. It's my passion, my escape.

About me:

I was raised in Brenham, TX. I can "blame" my passion for music on my dad...he was a Blues man. We'd listen to his records of Ruth Brown, BB King, Ray Charles, to name a few. We could belt out the tunes at such a young age. Good times! My first concert was Ted Nugent in Houstin in 1979. I was hooked! Went to either Houston or Austin at least once a month to see a show. My dad took a group of us to Dallas to the "Texxas Jam" in '79, and '80. That's where I caught the photo bug. I got my first 35mm camera and the rest is history! Of course that was in the day when cameras were allowed without question. I have great shots of Journey, Foriegner, Loverboy ('memba them??!!) and Rush.
My photography has always been a hobby. I chose Nursing School over majoring in Photography because I knew that at least in nursing I'd get a steady pay-check. Maybe a silly reason, but true. Ever since I was a little girl, I wanted to be a nurse. My Grandmother was a nurse as well.
I have 2 sons, ages 13 and 11. The oldest is an aspiring guitarist who has been taking lessons at the Austin School of Music since he was 7. The younger one is my little drummer boy, having been taking lessons for 3 years. They (the teachers) call him "Sugarfoot". He's indeed a livewire! You can find them playing at Antones in the summer time with their "Rock Camp" bands. They (we) are also very active with Boy Scouts. I'm an experienced camper and hiker. Love the outdoors in PERFECT weather. I'm sure you get the idea! Have lots of great nature photos as well from Big Bend, Davis Mountains, McDonald Observatory, Carlsbad NM, etc. Enough about the kids.
I graduated from the Univ of Mary Hardin-Baylor with my Nursing degree and UT Southwestern in Dallas with my Nurse Practitioner degree. I've been with my current employer since 1995. I like what I do...very rewarding and sometimes challenging. I have a 4 day work week, off on Fridays. When the boys are with their dad, it's my turn to "let my hair down". I research who is playing where and plan my w/e schedule. Usually frequent Antones, Saxon Pub, Continental Club, Elephant Room, Momo's to name a few. New venues always popping up in Austin! I go where the best music is!

Lynne,

The "painted" effect is done in Photoshop and takes about 3 mouse clicks to achieve. In fact, you can download the action from Adobe in their Photoshop Action section (or whatever it is called). The technique is called the "Orton Landscape Technique" and is named after Professional Landscape Photographer, Mr. Orton. It is similar to sandwiching two transparencies together where one is crystal clear and the other has a diffusion filter over it. Doesn't work for everything... but when it does - WOW!

Thank you very much for the feedback, I should be at SXSW this year, but as of right now I'm not sure of the day or venue. As soon as I find out I will let you know, and I will also have the information available on my page.
