My short bio
let's see ...short bio

I love to dance, so I love music that is danceable,
ok I really just love music
but it helps a ton if its danceable!

I am a student at UNM, a volunteer at The Vortex Theater, a mom of 3 teenagers.
I love art and try my hand at it once in a while...I'd probably be better if I tried it more often but; it is not my educational pursuit so art is a leisure activity for me.

I am a closet singer so I will never sing in public *shakes head huh uh*

I'm a mamma that loves to boogie, play, and be silly. My kidittos tease me that I need to grow up and I remind them that I never will :) And neither should they!

I find joy in the little things and love to learn!

There's lots more to me but this is supposed to be short *grins*

Learning Spanish

This is the beginning, as of today I am fully monolingual, by the end of the year I will be bilingual.
This is my first blog in my quest to learn Spanish; all the troubles, the trying, and chronicling of the results will be written here. I fear failing *again* but I think that writing this will help me keep going.

Visit my Wordpress Blog at http://mariflies.wordpress.com. Maybe, just maybe, this time I will learn.
I'm definitely going to give it my b… Continue

My Poetry / Story entry at La Cosecha

The assignment was to complete the sentence after the given phrase (in bold)
This is my entry.

I hear – the soft sound of my children catching their breath as I pause before turning the page.
I feel safe and warm with my brood snuggled all around me.
I pretend I may not turn the page; maybe it’s time for goodnight.
I rejoice – as I see their interest and hear them ask for more.
I suffer – when I think how much I wished I had time like… Continue

Public Academy for Performing Arts needs help

The Public Academy for Performing Arts aka PAPA is the home to students in 6th through 12th grade pursuing theater, film, art, music, and dance.

Their lessor of their previous temporary home was cited with 45 counts against fire code and these children were set into an emergency situation and transplanted into "Portable City" behind Bel-Air Elementary school.

Halloween Music

I arrived a little late, I had to take my underage spooks to their haunting grounds before arriving at Studio Broadway, but the music was good and I love good music.

Del Puckett was playing as we entered and as always carried himself and his music to a place of greatness.
Some bluesy, some rock-y, some folks-y, played Del -all he did well and he had a few stories to tell. As his third gig of the day he still gave us his best and it was appreciated. Great job Del!! You're awesome! I'm, guessing… Continue

Balloon Fiesta

It's here again, that magical time of year when 200+lbs of fabric, 200+lbs of basket, and 200+lbs of people all defy gravity by the simple act of heating up the air above them.

That's it, they just heat up the air and then suspend themselves in it.

And by doing that, they make me and so many others believe in magic for another year.

Sure, sure the traffic sucks. But, the Railrunner is actually doing a great job. The buses from the Journal Center Station take you even closer than if you drove.… Continue

You can just go to www.leyla-najma.com and you can contact her through the opt in form and you can also get some free video lessons as well. I'm sure she'd love to hear from and talk to you. Me? My back hurts just watching her. I'll tell her to expect to hear from you.
