ABQSlams -- Albuquerque Poetry Slams -- is the main promoter of poetry slam and performance poetry in Albuquerque. It has been in operation since 1995 and sponsors four monthly poetry slams in ABQ a month.

We are bringing together an event on September 24th in Albuquerque at a space called Black Market Goods. The event itself is called the World Poetry Cafe and we will have food, dancing, poetry and more all from the Middle East and the Indian sub-continet as well....basically a bazaar type setting and whet we hope will be at least a half day of artistry. - Zachary Kluckman lives in a state of animated suspension in Albuquerque, NM where he serves as Executive Director of the world's only Slam Poet Laureate Program. He is also the Executive Director of NM Poetry Tangents and the Festival Coordinator for the Verse~Converse Poetry Festival. His recent anthology, Earthships: A New Mecca Poetry Collection was a finalist in the NM Book Awards. An actor, teacher, youth advocate and and respected spoken word artist, his publications include the New York Quarterly, Dos Passos Review and more. Hie work appears in print, as well as on film and radio worldwide. A recent nominee for both Best of the Net 2009 and the Puhscart Prize, he is also the Spoken Word Editor for the acclaimed Pedestal Magazine. Currently, he is at work on a novel, a collection of poetry titled The Bone-Fly Files and a rhythm and blues based collection of spoken word recordings.
