It's here again, that magical time of year when 200+lbs of fabric, 200+lbs of basket, and 200+lbs of people all defy gravity by the simple act of heating up the air above them.

That's it, they just heat up the air and then suspend themselves in it.

And by doing that, they make me and so many others believe in magic for another year.

Sure, sure the traffic sucks. But, the Railrunner is actually doing a great job. The buses from the Journal Center Station take you even closer than if you drove. Just take the train. There's some hassle with tourists and traffic and what not, ok. But why be a Scrooge about it, that part boosts our local economy some and we can show a few more people what a great place we have here in Albuquerque. I mean who really wants to be known as the wrong turn Bugs Bunny took forever? Or as the place for the Simpsons baseball team?

We have some amazing culture, fantastic artists, phenomenal musicians, Albuquerque has a lot to offer the people of the world that come here every year to witness and be part of Balloon Fiesta.

Hell the second word is FIESTA, and do we know how to party or what?! Every morning I look in the sky and there it is, a party in the sky! An explosion of color hanging in the air like the Christmas balls on the boughs of the tree. Slowly moving up or down , trading places with each other. With a vzwhoosjhhhhh that sends the dogs in the neighborhood into a frenzy you know if you run outside real quick you can wave hello to a group of people floating in a basket just above roof level of your house.

Have you been to the rendezvous points afterwards???? Now, that's a party!!! If you've never done it before, VOLUNTEER TO CREW A BALLOON! Seriously. You don't have to ride in the balloon if you get motion sick or are afraid of heights to enjoy a moment in the life of a balloonist. They always need help.

Go to a mass ascension.......go to a glow....... look into the sky

Yes, there is magic in the air.
