While in Austin attending my grandmother's funeral I learned that a dear friend, Mike Esquibel, was hit by a train and killed in Las Vegas NM. I don't know what to say or think about this. The timing could not have been more ironic, and Mike would have laughed and said he was sorry to have inconvenienced me, but that was Mikee's way. I am preparing to pack up and leave town for the second funeral in less than a week. I truly hope things DON'T come in threes as I don't know if I could handle another tragedy in so short a time. Please remember the Esquibel family in your prayers as Mikee went way too young. That being said, I know he is currently with my grandmother telling stories about us all. I will miss you dearly my brother...

Funny thing about tragedy is that it reminds to slow down, take nothing for granted, and enjoy all life. It opens our eyes to the fact that life, with all it's strengths, is so fragile. When bad things happen, community is resumed. Remember those that have passed and celebrate those who are living, maybe you can find purpose even in this sad time.
