"Soliloquy"

Unrest is my harbinger, the howling that wakes you at all hours of the night, my herald. I will neither sneak into, nor fall upon your world.
I will arrive in dawn's earliest gloom, amidst the quiet fanfare of
gravel underfoot and wind sighing through my hair. 'Neath my feet, the
earth will both tremble and prosper, grateful to revel in the rains
that will inevitably tumble towards it. The sky will not lighten today,
perhaps not tomorrow, perhaps not for a week. You will wake to the
rumbling of thunder, singing my glory across the sky, orchestra amongst
the descending clouds.
I am without sympathy and mercy, the embodiment of all emotion in symphony, and you cannot block my path. I
come at the beckoning of both time and your own hand, though you may
not see me as the angel you have prayed so fervently for, night after
night. My crescendo is a maelstrom tearing your sky apart, setting fire
to your buildings, purging your filth from this world with unrelenting
rain and hail.
Your children will never be closer in your arms, your families never more conscious of the unconditional love you bear
for one another, not a soul more thankful for the loyalty of the dog
barking with unrestrained faith at the door, certain that devils and
demons are being kept at bay on the other side.
You will fall asleep terrified and spent, determined to protect that which you love most
dearly, newly awakened to an understanding of what holds your world
together. You will see and feel for more than yourself, find new depths
of strength and humanity.
When you walk through the door that has been battered to splinters, you will see no chaos, no ruination, no
loss. The sun will shine fondly upon the first footprints of a clean,
pure world filled with potentials and possibilities. Your heart will
swell neigh to bursting at the perfection of nature and the clarity it
brings, and together, you will find a name...

I am change, and I am inexorable.
